Why celebrate getting married in one country, when you can in two? That’s exactly what Belen + Jorge did for their elopement in the German and Austrian Alps. These two locations straddling the border made for the perfect place to soak up high alpine views and lush greenery by a sparkling lake.
When the pair reached out, they expressed wanting lake and mountain views, the ability to see animals, an experience that incorporated the culture through food, and a slow pace to soak it all in.
Throughout the planning process, we went back and forth between a few different options, but ultimately landed on this. It was the perfect way to get a variety of scenery without a hard hike, and in a picturesque region. Oh, and quite a few cows too 🙂
While a few days before their wedding, we had to make some changes to the timeline and date due to predicted heavy rains…it all paid off so they could stick with their ideal plan.
Belen + Jorge booked a stunning hotel nestled next to the mountains on the German side of the Alps. Through the windows, you could look out and see summits in all directions. It made the perfect place for getting ready and their first looks.
Afterward, we took a cable car up the mountain. From there, it was a short hike to a location I had pre-scouted for their ceremony. It was away from all the hikers, and wow…just what a panorama. Shortly after their ceremony, they shared a picnic while reading some letters from friends and family.
After their picnic, we drove to a peaceful lake in the Austrian Alps. Here, they wound down the evening with champagne and chocolates from a local shop. Storm clouds began to gather on the drive over, but the rain held up until the very end. The moody clouds made the greens of the landscape pop. It was a serene and peaceful way to end their elopement.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Belen + Jorge. Their warmth and commitment to creating a day that felt ‘’them’’ shone through the entire experience. It was so special to document.
This adventure elopement in the German and Austrian Alps included everything from stunning valleys and alpine lakes to sweeping mountain top views. One unique aspect of their elopement was they were staying right on the border of the German and Austrian Alps, allowing them to celebrate getting married in two countries! Their locations were perfect for couples who aren’t looking for a heavy hike, but want some privacy and scenery that can’t be mistaken for anything other than the Alps. ”Planning an elopement abroad from the US to the Alps could have been overwhelming, but Christine made everything feel effortless. From our first call she was approachable, and so easy to communicate with. She shared vendor recommendations, answered every question, and always made time to connect. When there were forecasted thunderstorms on both our wedding and backup date, Christine stayed calm and offered creative solutions. Her professionalism and presence put us completely at ease. On the day itself she guided us and made us feel comfortable even though we are not used to being in front of the camera. Looking at our gallery now, we’re completely blown away. Christine captured every emotion and detail so beautifully. She was truly born for this work and her eye is unmatched. These photos are memories we will treasure forever. Having her by our side made the best day of our lives even more special. I cannot recommend her enough. Christine, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We were so lucky to find you. Have a wonderful trip across the US and may our paths cross again!”
