I’ve found the world is often a small place, despite spending so much time around larger-than-life landscapes.
When I first spoke to Sydney + David, I found out they live just twenty minutes down the road from my parents in the USA. It was a sign – we were meant to work together.
From the very beginning, the two had their eye on eloping in Appenzell. The grassy yet cliffy mountainsides drew them in. Pair that with their background in cattle farming and the opportunity to see plenty of cows – the area was perfect for them.
In the days leading up to their elopement, the weather forecast was changing every few hours (even the day of!). This isn’t uncommon in the Alps, so I had plenty of backups in mind, and we were prepared to embrace the rain. In many ways, the cloud cover and showers were a welcome relief from the recent heatwave.
While Sydney + David had originally planned to celebrate their day on top of a mountain, ultimately, we chose to stay lower in the valley for safety reasons. Their flexibility and ability to see the beauty that surrounded us as moody clouds rolled in and out helped make the beautiful experience what it was.
From first looks at small lake near their hotel, stopping to admire each cow near the trail, and dramatic lake views as Sydney + David exchanged vows in between rain showers, it was an unforgettable rainy elopement day in Switzerland.
Oh, and it’s worth noting that on Day 2, the weather stayed dry instead of the forecasted rain. That meant we even got to explore their dream mountain top spot. Sydney + David didn’t feel the need to wear their wedding clothes on the second day. Instead, they focused on exploring and just taking in the breathtaking scenery as a newly married couple.
”Christine did such an amazing job with our elopement – we truly can’t express how grateful we are. She exceeded every expectation we had. From the very beginning, she made the entire planning process feel effortless. Every detail was so thoughtfully organized, and she genuinely thinks of everything. We were nervous about leaving the country and unsure where to even start, but Christine was there every step of the way with guidance – from where to stay, to must-see hikes. The day of our wedding was everything we dreamed of: peaceful, beautiful, and completely stress-free. And the photos… absolutely breathtaking. She captured the emotion, the light, and the magic of the day in a way we’ll treasure forever. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Christine, thank you for making our elopement unforgettable.”
