Karen + Tyler’s elopement in the Alps was one for the books.
The two started their day at the sweetest hillside Airbnb—tucked among green pastures and rolling hills. Warm light poured in through the windows as they got ready separately and shared first looks on the property, soaking in the peaceful scenery.
While planning their elopement, Karen shared wanting to find some sort of picturesque alpine view…and through my local knowledge, I was able to pinpoint the perfect secluded spot. Surrounded by wildflowers and a sweeping vista, the pair read heartfelt letters from loved ones and shared a hazelnut wedding cake. It was the perfect place to soak in the scenery and watch the clouds roll in and out over the mountains.
Later, Karen + Tyler changed into hiking clothes before we hit the trail for their main ceremony location, Appenzell’s famous Seealpsee. There were plenty of cows, which are always an experience to hike with (if you know, you know). After a quick stop at a mountain hut for a refreshing drink, the two changed back into wedding attire and exchanged vows. The lake was still, creating a serene reflection. After heartfelt vows, they shared a first dance they had learned and practiced before their trip.
Not long after Karen + Tyler’s first dance, a soft rain began to fall. Undeterred, they still decided to rent a rowboat and head out onto the water. Just minutes into paddling out onto the lake, the rain stopped, and instead, a magical rainbow appeared. It’s sometimes easy to forget that rain often brings the most breathtaking skies.
While the magic could have ended there, it didn’t. Instead, the night finished with fresh strawberry and vanilla ice cream from a vending machine one of the locals run (and yes, the dairy is supplied from the nearby grazing cows!). What a way to end this beautiful, adventurous day. There’s no place better to elope than the Alps, and we’re so grateful Karen +Tyler gave Scott and I the privilege of documenting their elopement.
The Appenzell area is one of our favorites, and we’d love to work with more hiking couples in this stunning region.
This adventure elopement in Appenzell included enjoying time at their unique Airbnb, a secluded meadow viewpoint, and then a hike up to the Seealpsee where they exchanged vows. ”Christine and Scott were the absolute dream team. Hands down. They started planning our elopement a year in advance and guided us every step of the way through all of our confusion. I’m so impressed with how they handled everything with so much ease and excitement. They made our elopement exactly what we wanted and more. I truly felt like they wanted what was best for us and it was so, so comforting. When it rained on our planned day, they were so generous and happy to wait another day for better weather. And the day itself was so stress-free. They were so fun and chill to hang out with all day, and before we knew it we had already gone past our scheduled time but they weren’t concerned. I also really appreciate how they gave us space during our intimate moments. They are true professionals! Last but definitely not least, their photographs and video were absolutely stunning. I didn’t know we could look so good and now we have these beautiful memories to keep forever. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them immediately if you’re planning an intimate elopement. Thank you so so much for everything.”
